On September 27th, Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina, leaving many areas devastated with physical destruction. Fortunately downtown Asheville, where the Moogseum is located, was spared from such damage. The Moogseum did sustain some exterior damage when our awning frame was ripped off the building and crashed into our front window, fracturing it in several places. It took six weeks, but we were finally able to get the window replaced. it will take another six to eight weeks to get the awning replaced. We are deeply grateful that the interior of the Moogseum, which houses a vast array of custom-designed interactive exhibits, one-of-a-kind historical musical instruments, and archival artifacts was undamaged.

For the Moogseum, the real devastation will be financial. Due to a lack of electricity, internet, and water, we were forced to be closed for over three weeks. We reopened on October 22nd, but foot traffic downtown, upon which we are heavily reliant, has declined drastically. The Moogseum’s income in October was down 97.3%. So far in November, our income is down 90%. We’ve sustained a loss of $30,000 thus far, and expect that our total losses will be $50,000 by the end of the year, and likely more in the first quarter of 2025 and beyond.

Please consider donating to the Moogseum to help defray these losses.

Every dollar donated will help assure that the Moogseum is able to remain open and resilient.
